Food Grade
≥98% magnesium chloride hexahydrate (≥46.4% anhydrous). Strict limits on heavy metals and water-insolubles. Used as tofu coagulant and food additive.
Industrial Grade
Available in Premium, First and Qualified grades; mostly hexahydrate in white/tan flakes. Used for magnesium cement, de-icers and feed additives.
Pharmaceutical Grade
98.0%–101.0% hexahydrate, tightly controlled pH, salts and heavy metals. Serves as electrolyte replenishing raw material for pharmaceuticals.
Electronic Grade
≥99.9% anhydrous magnesium chloride with controlled Ca, Fe, Na, sulphate impurities. For high-strength magnesium alloy electrolysis, premium refractories and electronic-grade MgO precursor.

Magnesium Chloride Used in the Food Industry
Only food‑grade magnesium chloride can be applied in food processing. It serves as a traditional tofu coagulant (bittern), which quickly curdles soy milk to produce smooth and tender tofu texture. It may also function as an anti‑caking agent for table salt or a nutritional fortifier for magnesium supplementation. It shall be used within permitted dosage ranges and must strictly comply with local food safety regulations.
Magnesium Chloride Used in the Chemical Manufacturing Industry
Magnesium chloride, as a basic inorganic raw material, is used to produce magnesium salts such as magnesium hydroxide (flame retardant), magnesium carbonate, and magnesium oxide. It can also be used as a dehydrating agent in organic synthesis.
Magnesium Chloride Used in the Metalworking Industry
Anhydrous magnesium chloride is the sole primary raw material for producing metallic magnesium via the electrolytic process, thereby supporting the magnesium alloy industry chain used in aerospace and automotive applications.

The reaction of magnesium chloride hexahydrate solution with magnesium oxide produces magnesium oxychloride cement (Sorel cement), which is used to manufacture fireproof boards, ventilation ducts, anti-theft manhole covers, and lightweight partition wall panels.
Magnesium Chloride Used in the Pharmaceutical Industry
Under physician supervision, magnesium chloride may be used to correct hypomagnesemia, manage constipation as a hyperosmotic laxative, and inhibit uterine smooth‑muscle contraction for tocolysis purposes.
