Introduction

Butyl glycol is a common industrial organic solvent. It appears as a clear, colourless liquid with a moderate ether-like odour, reminiscent of diethyl ether. It is miscible with water in all proportions and readily soluble in ethanol, diethyl ether, acetone, and various other organic solvents. It exhibits strong dissolving power for oils, greases, and resins.
